About Mold

Small quantities of mold are found everywhere, indoors and outdoors.  However, if excess humidity and/or water are introduced into the indoor environment then mold will colonize and thrive in that environment.

Although there are thousands of different mold species, Stachybotrys chartarum (sometimes referred to as Black Toxic Mold), Aspergillus/Penicillium, Chaetomium, and Cladosporium are among some of the most common problem mold species found during testing.  The spores that each of these molds produce pose health risks depending on the individual and the duration and degree of exposure.  When found in significant quantities, remediation is recommended.  Under these circumstances Professional Mold Inspections will provide a written remediation protocol detailing the proper procedures and equipment needed to treat and remove any mold contamination.
